“An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics.” Plutarch.
I’ve noticed this ad appearing in many fashion magazines over the past few weeks and every time I see it, it leaves me feeling a bit unsettled. I can only imagine what she is thinking. “Oh, look at all those silly plebeians. All they do is complain about the recession. What recession? They should be happy with what they have–who needs health care? I bet that shirt was less than 300 dollars.” Can her nose get any higher? The thought of this ad is just…disgusting. Here sits a one percenter with her costly thoroughbred dog, just lounging about and brooding about how life is so repressing. There are better, less haughty ways to advertise. Be creative.
